Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Ambulance Vehicle Preparation Specialist to join our team at Scunthorpe Ambulance Station. As an AVP Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing and deep cleaning frontline ambulance vehicles in accordance with the Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) requirements.

This role offers competitive out-of-hours unsocial rates on top of basic salary, with unsocial payments subject to NHS terms and conditions. Our training package includes a Level 2 Apprenticeship and access to a Level 2 NCFE.

You will be required to travel throughout Yorkshire as and when required to other Ambulance Stations during your shift, with transport provided. Your duties will include:

  1. Processing ambulance service vehicles in a prescribed and controlled way to ensure each ambulance is fully equipped and prepared to attend and treat a patient.
  2. Checking and inspecting medical and lifting & handling equipment.
  3. Recording all daily activities and managing the repatriation of equipment from Hospital Trusts.

No experience is required, as full training will be given. An initial 4-week training package forms part of your Learning and Development.

Job responsibilities

A Driving License with C1 Class is Essential. You will be required to confirm within your application that you hold a full C1 Category on your license, valid within the UK.

The working days and times are dependent upon current provision required to meet operational/patient demand and this can include Bank Holidays, weekends, and nights, preparing our frontline operational vehicles and maintaining our provision on a 24-hour basis. A significant percentage of our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation is completed overnight. However, night and weekend working does attract unsocial payments.

Holiday entitlement is between 27 days and 33 days (pro-rata) depending on length of NHS service plus bank holidays on a pro-rata basis.

The successful candidates must be flexible in their approach and convey a personal commitment to demonstrating the YAS values and behaviours.

  • Driving licence with full Category C1 entitlement, valid in the UK.
  • Ability to work unsocial hours on a 7 day/24 hour shift rota system.
