The Product Engineering: Software Undergraduate Programme at JLR offers a unique opportunity to launch your career in the heart of automotive innovation. As an undergraduate, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, supporting our software teams to deliver best quality, reliable features that delight our customers.

JLR's vehicles boast some of the most advanced technology in the industry. Software plays a crucial role in identifying key fobs, unlocking vehicles, and providing a refined user experience through infotainment. This means our software engineers get to work on innovative projects, delivering modern luxury vehicles of the future.

You'll gain valuable insight into design, implementation, and advanced validation techniques of the tools and processes we work with every day. During your placement year, you could work in one of the following teams: Engineering Propulsion (EP), Digital Product Platform (DPP), Vehicle Engineering (VE), Engineering Research (ER), Engineering Body Chassis (EBC) or Engineering Operations (EO).

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £23,434 for our 2025 undergraduate programme, along with a generous holiday allowance, discounted car purchase and lease scheme, excellent pension scheme, and access to a wide range of deals and discounts from retailers and sports clubs.

What We're Looking For

To join the programme, you'll need to be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in software engineering, computer science, cyber engineering, or a related discipline. Our undergraduate placement opportunities are open only to penultimate-year students who will return to their final year of study or pursue an integrated master's after their placement with us. All programmes have a fixed start date, commencing July 2025.
