Production Engineer - Job Overview:

The Production Engineer will play a key role in driving innovation and efficiency within the manufacturing facilities of Melbreck Technical, a leading designer and manufacturer of specialist equipment and machinery. This exciting opportunity will see the successful candidate explore, research, and implement appropriate automation and robotics solutions to support the manufacture of the company's existing and new product range.

This role offers a unique chance for personal development and growth within the company, providing a real contribution to the advancement of the use of automation within the business. The ideal candidate will be a fast learner with the ability to work independently as well as within a cross-functional team.

The Production Engineer will be responsible for generating effective engineering information, systems, and manufacturing processes, while championing the implementation of a successful Lean Manufacturing culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Engineering review of all customer orders.
  2. Generation and maintenance of accurate BOM and works order information on the company manufacturing system.
  3. Communication and support of drawing issues/changes with production.
  4. Administration of controlled builds and maintenance of the accuracy of Manufacturing BOMs.
  5. Liaison with production personnel to review, control, and implement effective and efficient improvements to engineering specifications.
  6. Hands-on analysis, problem-solving, and development of all production processes, methods, and engineering specifications.
  7. Maximisation of the effectiveness and efficiency of all operations and engineering specifications.
  8. Development of cellular manufacturing/flow line/single piece flow principles through each of the product/supply areas in line with the Company Standards.
  9. Maintenance of excellent standards through 5S and Visual Factory.
  10. Assistance with the specification/set-up and commissioning of new robotic equipment & facilities.
  11. Concept design, planning, sourcing, and implementation of automation solutions.
  12. Delivery of requirements based on control, systems & procedures of all MIG, MAG, GMAW & TIG welding processes and provision of technical assistance to all associated departments with welding matters.
  13. Integration & implementation of new processes, and drive improvement activities on existing processes.
  14. Overall direction & control of all MIG/MAG & TIG welding processes, and associated documentation.
  15. Development & implementation of internal working standards, documentation & performance reports.
  16. Assistance in the development & integration of automated/robotic welding processes.
  17. Implementation & control of a stock management system/routine of welding spares.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Robotics/Engineering or 5 years relevant experience.
  2. Good understanding of robotic applications.
  3. Robotic programming and maintenance capability.
  4. Demonstrated working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma in the manufacturing field preferable.
  5. Excellent analytical skills combined with good negotiation and conflict management skills with proficiency in computers would be beneficial.
  6. Ability to read engineering drawings.
Benefits:

Working hours for the role are 08:00 – 16:30, Monday – Friday (40 hours basic).
