Melbreck Technical Recruitment is working with a leading designer and manufacturer of specialist equipment and machinery based in Milton Keynes.

The company prides itself on its innovative history, dating back to the 80's, and has created a culture based on understanding, co-operation, partnership, and diversity.

As they continue to invest in new products, they have identified a need to strengthen their Production team and are looking to hire a Production Engineer to join the business.

Role Overview:

The Production Engineer will be responsible for exploring and implementing appropriate automation and robotics solutions into manufacturing facilities in support of the manufacture of the company's existing and new product range.

The role is expected to develop and provide an exciting opportunity for personal growth within the company. The Production Engineer will contribute to the advancement of the use of automation within the business and will require an individual who is a fast learner with the ability to work independently as well as within a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities:
  1. Responsible for the engineering review of all customer orders.
  2. Generating and maintaining accurate BOM and works order information on the company manufacturing system.
  3. Communicating and supporting drawing issues and changes with production.
  4. Administration of controlled builds and maintaining the accuracy of Manufacturing BOM's.
  5. Through liaison with production personnel, reviewing, controlling, and implementing effective and efficient improvements to engineering specifications.
  6. Responsible for hands-on analysis, problem-solving, and development of all production processes, methods, and engineering specifications.
  7. Maximizing the effectiveness and efficiency of all operations and engineering specifications.
  8. Development of cellular manufacturing, flow line, and single piece flow principles through each of the product and supply areas in line with the company standards.
  9. Developing and maintaining the practices necessary to achieve excellent standards through 5S and Visual Factory.
  10. Assisting with the specification, set-up, and commissioning of new robotic equipment and facilities.
  11. The role involves concept design, planning, sourcing, and implementation of automation solutions.
  12. Delivering requirements based on control, systems, and procedures of all MIG, MAG, GMAW, and TIG welding processes and providing technical assistance to all associated departments with welding matters.
  13. Integration and implementation of new processes and driving improvement activities on existing processes.
  14. Providing overall direction and control of all MIG/MAG and TIG welding processes and associated documentation.
  15. Development and implementation of internal working standards, documentation, and performance reports.
  16. Assisting in the development and integration of automated and robotic welding processes.
  17. Implementing and controlling a stock management system and routine of welding spares.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Robotics or Engineering or 5 years of relevant experience.
  2. Good understanding of robotic applications.
  3. Robotic programming and maintenance capability.
  4. Demonstrated working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma in the manufacturing field preferable.
  5. Excellent analytical skills combined with good negotiation and conflict management skills with proficiency in computers would be beneficial.
  6. Ability to read engineering drawings.
Benefits:

Working hours for the role are 08:00 - 16:30, Monday - Friday (40 hours basic).
