Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Director to work on Norman ward in Green Parks House, Princess Royal University Hospital, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

The post-holder will provide senior medical cover for 18 acute inpatients admitted to Norman ward. The post-holder will be the Responsible Clinician (RC) for all detained inpatients.

Main Responsibilities

The post-holder will be responsible for:

  • Chairing and leading a multidisciplinary review meeting of patients on the ward at least three times a week to ensure timely reviews and high-quality care.
  • Attending clinical governance meetings to review the quality of care provided by the ward and identify areas for improvement.
  • Participating in business meetings to provide a senior clinical perspective and support the ward manager in delivering high-quality care.
  • Ensuring effective use of medical resources and regular supervision of trainees and non-training medical staff.
  • Ensuring that the views of families and carers are sought when making decisions about patient care and discharge planning.
  • Participating in directorate and sub-directorate meetings to address specific issues affecting the directorate or sub-directorate that require clinical input.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, such as completing capacity assessments and discharge summaries in a timely manner.
