Job Title: Shunter

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shunter to join our Transport Department at Culina Group. As a Shunter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth transition of trailers, maintaining safety and efficiency at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Observe and adhere to company rules, site procedures, and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times.
  • Effectively manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
  • Liaise with colleagues and ensure completion of shift reports.
  • Conduct daily checks, immediately report any defects and/or damage, and complete associated documentation.
  • Carry out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff.
  • Complete trailer checklists and report to the operations desk.
  • Carry out shunting duties, including relevant maintenance and safety checks.
  • Liaise with the warehouse control and goods-in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading/unloading of trailers.
  • Complete vehicle downloads as per the company policy.
  • Monitor services/MOTs – liaise with the Transport Office and with service vendors.
  • Assist with fuel delivery/manual dip of fuel.
  • Keep the yard in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Liaise with the Transport Office as and when required, i.e., special promotions and/or livery schedules.
  • Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard.

  • Knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers' hours.
  • Professional, approachable, and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation.
  • Maintain a high standard of behavior and appearance.
