Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of History to join our team at Wayman Group. As a key member of our academic leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the History department, providing guidance and support to teachers, and driving the success of the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Department Leadership: Lead and manage the History department, providing strategic direction and guidance to teachers to ensure the delivery of high-quality education.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and implement an engaging and rigorous History curriculum, aligned with national standards and the school's educational vision.
  • Teaching and Learning: Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department, implementing improvement strategies to enhance student outcomes.
  • Student Support: Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel inspired, challenged, and supported.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and stakeholders, keeping them informed of students' progress and achievements.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated with the latest developments in history education, incorporating innovative teaching approaches and resources.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other department heads and the senior leadership team to promote cross-curricular initiatives and enhance the overall educational provision.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: A degree in History or a related field, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and preferably a postgraduate qualification in education or leadership.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a History teacher, with a track record of delivering excellent results, and leadership experience, ideally as a Head of Department or in a similar leadership role.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a passion for history education.
