About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced scrub nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Senior Scrub Practitioner. This is a key leadership role within our theatre department, and we are looking for someone who can provide exceptional care to our patients while also contributing to the smooth running of our theatre lists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the team leader in efficiently running theatre lists and managing staff members to ensure the smooth running of theatre lists in collaboration with the Theatre Coordinator.
  • Participate in the theatre coordination role and contribute to the development of theatre schedules and plans.
  • Support and mentor junior staff and students, providing guidance and training to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality care.
  • Facilitate Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) for Band 5 staff and below in conjunction with the line manager.
  • Contribute to the management of consumables and equipment within each specialty group and liaise with the Equipment Manager as needed.
  • Participate in different link nurse opportunities, including pain management, infection control, education, and wellness initiatives.
  • Actively participate in areas of Clinical Governance, Audit, and Research projects, contributing to the development of quality and service improvement initiatives.

Requirements
  • BSc Nursing or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in the relevant specialty, supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training, and CPD.
  • SSSA-P qualification.
  • Previous post-registration experience within the relevant specialty.
  • Experience of teaching, assessing, and supervising others in a clinical setting.
  • Experience of coordinating a team and the wider multidisciplinary team in theatres.
  • Experience of project management and service improvement initiatives/audit.
