Specialist Engineer

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering specialist engineering activities across various wards and departments within a multidisciplinary environment. This role requires the ability to work independently and represent the Specialist Engineering team at designated Trust Governance meetings.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver specialist engineering services to ensure compliance with Trust safety standards and legal requirements.
- Support supervisors in maintaining competency across the in-house team through specialist engineering training and mentoring.
- Develop and monitor training programs for technicians and apprentices.
- Manage key specialist engineering service contracts and lead designated service areas commensurate with expertise.
- Maintain, operate, and review pre-planned maintenance programs related to specialist engineering and complex technical subjects.
- Contribute to the achievement of good corporate governance throughout the Trust.
- Direct estates team members to ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
- Lead designated specialist engineering subjects to ensure compliance with Trust Statutory and Non-Statutory responsibilities.
- Work efficiently using complex technology to meet Service Level Agreements and key performance indicators.
- Provide technical expertise and training on all aspects of Estates Maintenance function.
- Promote communication at all levels and bring innovation, monitoring, and measurement to ensure a value-for-money service.
- Qualified to Degree Level in Engineering/Building Services or HNC/HND Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with significant management experience.
- Extensive experience in operational maintenance in a Mechanical, Electrical, or Building service discipline or equivalent significant experience.
- Membership of a Professional Institution (e.g., IHEEM, IEE, IET, I.Mech, CIBSE).
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- A recognised training qualification/apprenticeship in Electrical or Mechanical Services.
- Legionella awareness L8 - Responsible Person.
- NEBOSH - Level 3 Certificate.
- Appointments as an Authorised/Competent person.
- Good organisational skills and ability to address and develop solutions to problems of a highly complex and contentious nature.
- Ability to receive and interpret highly complex and contentious information of a sensitive nature and communicate the magnitude of the situation with non-estates professionals.
- Strong communication skills for effective working relationships throughout the organisation.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
- Highly organised approach to work.
- Strong IT/PC Skills to develop and operate various computer systems.
- Evidence of good written and spoken communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with Trust's Values and Behaviours.
