Radiation Shielding Engineer

Holtec International, a global leader in nuclear energy, is seeking a skilled Radiation Shielding Engineer to join its team. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a critical role in designing the next generation of nuclear power stations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop radiation protection design features and perform radiation shielding, occupational exposure, and site dose assessment for the SMR plant during normal operation and transient conditions.
  • Determine source terms and transport to various systems and components at the SMR-160 plant during normal operation and transient conditions.
  • Produce dose assessments for workers and the public and contribute to the development of the radiological protection nuclear safety case documentation for the developing reactor design.
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in an engineering or science-related discipline.
  • Ability to work independently and balance competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency with radiation source term, shielding, and radiological-consequence dose assessment tools, e.g., MCNP, SCALE, GALE, ARCON96, RADTRAD, or other applicable analysis code packages.
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810.
