Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Child Protection Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our social work team, you will work closely with families to understand their needs and strengths, promoting the welfare of children while respecting family rights and supporting them to identify positive changes.
The ideal candidate will have experience in conducting thorough assessments of family members to identify strengths, needs, and risks, and developing SMART plans with families to reduce risks and address needs. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with partners and conduct regular child in need and core group meetings.
In this role, you will undertake child protection investigations and work with families to create plans that reduce harm and promote safety. Where necessary, you will initiate discussions regarding legal proceedings to safeguard children. Your role will be critical in ensuring the wellbeing of vulnerable children and families in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Triage incoming contacts to determine if they meet statutory thresholds for social work intervention.
- Conduct thorough assessments of family members to identify strengths, needs, and risks.
- Develop SMART plans with families to reduce risks and address needs.
- Work collaboratively with partners and conduct regular child in need and core group meetings.
- Undertake child protection investigations and work with families to create plans that reduce harm and promote safety.
- Where necessary, initiate discussions regarding legal proceedings to safeguard children.
