Trauma Lead Occupational Therapist

About This Opportunity
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and skilled Occupational Therapist to lead our Major Trauma Occupational Therapy team. As a senior clinician, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive occupational therapy service to patients with complex trauma injuries.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Major Trauma Occupational Therapy team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients.
- Develop and maintain clinical expertise in trauma and orthopaedic occupational therapy, staying up-to-date with the latest research and best practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and effective discharge planning.
- Recruit, supervise, and appraise staff, ensuring the team is equipped to provide excellent patient care.
- Develop and maintain clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure the team operates efficiently and effectively.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of clinical governance arrangements and quality agendas.
- Lead in inter-disciplinary, multidisciplinary training and education for staff and students, ensuring the team remains competent in their practice.
- Contribute to the development of Departmental guidelines and protocols, ensuring the team operates within the Trust's standards and policies.
- Exercise good personal time management, punctuality, and consistent reliable attendance, maintaining a positive and professional attitude in all interactions.
- Participate in clinical audit, research, and development activities, contributing to the advancement of occupational therapy practice in trauma and orthopaedics.
- Ensure referrals and tasks are actioned in a timely manner, taking into consideration clinical priorities in case management.
- Responsible for maintaining competence in the use of moving and handling techniques and equipment, required for the management of highly dependent patients.
