Director of Research and Innovation

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Research and Innovation to lead the strategic development and delivery of research and innovation activity across our Group. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of R&I leadership in the NHS, along with experience of managing a research portfolio across complex organisations and attracting external funding to support research infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive research and innovation strategy that aligns with the Group's goals and objectives.
- Lead the development and delivery of research and innovation projects, ensuring they are aligned with the Group's priorities and meet the needs of patients and staff.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including academics, researchers, and industry partners, to identify opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the research and innovation team, ensuring they have the necessary skills, resources, and support to deliver their work.
- Develop and manage budgets, ensuring effective use of resources and achieving value for money.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of research and innovation activity, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address them.
We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled individual with a strong track record of R&I leadership in the NHS. The successful candidate will have:
- A clinical qualification and full registration with a relevant regulatory body.
- A higher research degree and experience of managing a research portfolio.
- Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Experience of driving innovative approaches and delivering transformational change.
