About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Research and Innovation to lead our research and innovation strategy across the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering research and innovation initiatives in the NHS, with a strong understanding of the national research strategies and the local and national research landscapes.

They will be responsible for developing and implementing a research and innovation strategy that aligns with the Trust's goals and objectives, and for leading a team of researchers and innovators to deliver high-quality research and innovation projects.

The ideal candidate will have a clinical qualification, a higher research degree, and experience of managing a research portfolio across complex organisations.

They will be able to evidence their ability to drive innovative approaches and deliver transformational change, and will have a strong track record of attracting external funding to support research infrastructure development.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A clinical qualification

  • Experience of managing a research portfolio across complex organisations

  • Experience of driving innovative approaches and delivering transformational change

They will be able to evidence their ability to analyse complex information and issues, and will have a strong understanding of the NHS and the national research strategies.

The successful candidate will be part of a great senior leadership team and will have huge opportunities to make a difference and contribute to the development of the Trust's research and innovation strategy.
