About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Work Area Manager to join our team at the Chelmsford Mail Centre. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of 25 full and part-time employees, managing operations in various manual and automated areas within the plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 25 employees, providing regular one-to-one and team meetings, and reviewing area performance and plans on a daily basis.
  • Hold line management responsibility for team members' sick absence, attendance, and training, while engaging with the team to drive performance.
  • Implement health and safety initiatives, increase efficiency, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support the Shift Manager in providing a high-quality service to our customers and ensuring all operational targets are met.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in managing and supporting a large team to maximise performance.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate team members to work to high standards.
  • Target-focused with a track record of improving performance and achieving KPIs.
  • Experience of introducing change and successfully leading people through change.
  • Data analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to identify trends in performance and develop solutions.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders to achieve business benefits.
