Childcare Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to support the development of an 8-year-old boy with severe autism in community activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with the child, his family, and other professionals to develop social and communication skills, encouraging independence and confidence.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children with special needs and is willing to go the extra mile to make a positive impact on their life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the child in community activities, such as long walks, park visits, trampolining, swimming, music, and singing.
- Assist with daily tasks, including intimate personal care and continence pad/nappy changes.
- Work collaboratively with the child's family and other professionals to develop a tailored support plan.
- Ensure the child's safety and well-being at all times, including during travel by bus.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with autism or other special needs.
- Patience, understanding, and a willingness to learn Makaton and PECS.
- Flexibility and ability to work weekends or after school.
- Driving license and car insurance (desired but not essential).
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
