About the Role

Our work is critical. We are responsible for delivering the next warhead for the UK's nuclear deterrent; working at the forefront of nuclear technologies that keep the nation safe.

We support the government's strategy takes many facets: from supporting the weapon programme for the nuclear deterrent, supporting the UK's counter terrorist programme, identifying where there may be nuclear tests taking place around the world, and building an expert group of individuals in order to give the UK real depth in nuclear science and technology.

What You'll Do

You'll join our Conventional Safety Team and work within our Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) Function who are responsible for implementing our Safety Management System and driving continuous environmental improvements across the business.

You'll undertake risk assessments to identify appropriate control measures, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and driving safety improvements within the operational areas.

You'll work alongside other safety professionals interfacing with facility operators and project managers as part of an integrated team.

What You'll Get

This is a new position specifically created for university students undertaking a 12-month placement.

You'll gain experience of Risk Assessment and risk-based inspections in line with relevant legislation, industry standards and our policies, procedures and guidance.

You'll gain practical experience in delivering safety initiatives and using relevant assessment tools.

You'll develop an understanding of key pieces of health and safety legislation applicable to us.
