Maintenance Surveyor

The Maintenance Surveyor will be responsible for ensuring that all temporary accommodation owned and managed properties are maintained to the highest possible standards. This includes ensuring that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met, and providing a high standard of service to staff, residents, and property owners.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage a caseload of maintenance and repair work, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Conduct site investigations and technical assessments to identify the causes of damp and mould, and develop innovative solutions to address these issues.
- Prepare specifications, works programmes, and detailed reports to address maintenance and repair issues.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to staff, residents, and property owners on maintenance and repair matters.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure that maintenance and repair work is completed efficiently and effectively.
- Monitor and report on maintenance and repair costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Develop and implement processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance and repair services.
- Contribute to the development of the wider Service area and other relevant workforce plans and strategies in line with Council priorities.
- Relevant qualifications in building maintenance and repair, such as a HND/HNC in a related field.
- Experience of working in a maintenance and repair role, preferably in a local authority or housing association setting.
- Strong technical knowledge of building maintenance and repair, including damp and mould diagnosis and remediation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, residents, and property owners.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to work and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address maintenance and repair issues efficiently and effectively.
- Ability to manage budgets and monitor costs, with a focus on delivering value for money and improving efficiency.
- Knowledge of building contracts, including TPC 2005 and other contract iterations.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams, services, and partner organisations, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and improving outcomes for residents and property owners.
