Electrical Design Engineer / Senior Engineer - HV Underground Cables

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer or Senior Engineer to join our High Voltage (HV) team in London. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our output in the production and control of drawings and technical documents.

You will work on a mix of small cable projects, from short cable replacements within substations to major grid reinforcement projects involving cable lengths of hundreds of kilometers. Your expertise will be utilized in the production of all designs, calculations, reports, and drawings associated with new or modified EHV projects from 11kV to 400kV, covering EHV cabling and primary design.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Production of bonding/line diagrams, cable rating calculations, induced voltage calculations, short circuit force calculations, thermo-mechanical thrust calculations, pulling tension calculations, and production of material specification lists.
  • Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver exceptional engineering design.
  • Participation in feasibility studies, design development, and technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
