Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client's team in Chelmsford. As a world leader in the development of products for the scientific and satellite / space industries, our client is looking for a skilled engineer to lead the design of mounting arrangements for optics.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of mounting arrangements for optics
  • Review mounting arrangements designed by sub-contractors
  • Assist with requirements management of opto-mechanical technologies, as well as requirement derivation and reviews
  • Conduct a range of opto-mechanical analysis (e.g. tolerance, thermal, static, dynamic)
  • Design mechanical components
  • Support verification and testing
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure high quality standards are met across the development lifecycle
  • Produce designs using CAD packages
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of precision mechanical mounting of optics for structural, dynamic and thermal environments
  • Ability to review opto-mechanical designs
  • Competent with CAD packages
  • Experience of opto-mechanical design and analysis
  • Experience preparing and presenting design documentation for gate reviews
