This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Actuary to join NFU Mutual and lead the delivery of key actuarial workstreams. The successful candidate will be responsible for building the company's expertise in actuarial work, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and meeting the demands of internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the establishment and delivery of risk-led assurance reviews to ensure accurate business calculations.
- Provide independent expert review, identify opportunities for improvement, and support senior management decision-making.
- Engage with professional and industry bodies to ensure NFU Mutual is aware of industry best practices and regulatory hot topics.
- Act as the technical conduit for third-party suppliers of advice and technical software solutions for actuarial modeling.
- Provide assurance over actuarial work and wider risk topics in line with company strategy.
- Lead, manage, motivate, and develop junior actuarial staff.
- Fully qualified Actuary with significant experience in the general insurance sector.
- Strong technical knowledge of actuarial techniques for general insurance pricing, reserving, or capital modeling.
- Analytical mindset and proactive attitude.
- Ability to design and conduct assurance reviews and write impactful reports.
- Proven ability to think strategically and translate strategy into operational delivery.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to navigate difficult conversations.
- Proven track record of leading, developing, and coaching junior team members.
