About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solar and Battery Storage Technician to join our team at RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. As a key member of our operations and maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our utility-scale battery storage plants and ground-mounted solar PV plants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical and mechanical works to ensure compliance with electrical standards and optimal performance of the solar or battery asset.
  • Contribute to a safe workplace by developing, improving, and reviewing safe systems of work (SSoW).
  • Record and report all works in line with systems of work.
  • Travel between sites and offices, occasionally working away from home for training courses and travel to other sites.
  • Achieve and maintain Authorised Person and Senior Authorised Person status through training and experience.
Requirements and Experience
  • Approved Electrician qualification.
  • Inspection and testing qualifications (C&G 2391 or 2394/5) highly valued.
  • First aid qualifications.
  • Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, CSCS).
  • Experience working with equipment vendors to support diagnosis of faults.
  • DC and LV installation, fault finding, testing, and commissioning experience.
  • Solar PV installation and O&M experience.
  • Battery storage installation and O&M experience desirable.
Advantageous, but not Essential
  • Knowledge of central inverters desirable.
  • Technical understanding of AC, DC, SCADA, instrumentation, and communications networks.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of solar PV technology essential.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of HVAC, fire protection, security systems desirable.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of battery storage technology, although training can be given in this area.
