Main Responsibilities:
- To implement and deliver a broad, balanced, and relevant curriculum for students, focusing on a designated subject area as needed.
- To monitor and support student progress and development as a teacher/form tutor.
- To facilitate a learning environment that enables students to achieve their individual potential.
- To contribute to raising student attainment standards.
- To share and support the academy's responsibility for providing opportunities for personal and academic growth.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
- Operational and Strategic Planning: Lesson planning, resource development, syllabus creation, and departmental planning.
- Curriculum Development.
- Staff Development: Continuing Professional Development and Performance Management Review process participation.
- Quality Assurance: Monitoring and evaluating the subject area.
- Information Management: Maintaining records and tracking student progress.
- Communications: Interacting with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Pastoral System: Being a form tutor to a selected group of students.
- Teaching: Ensuring high-quality learning experiences for students.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
- Achieved successful teaching experience at secondary level (can be teaching practice), ideally including experience in multi-ethnic urban schools and working in an 11-18 school.
- Understand effective teaching and learning theories and practices.
- Value high expectations and equality of access for all students, and being a tutor.
- Knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4, and writing lesson plans, developing resources, and assessing students' work.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, develop positive relationships with all staff.
- Good ICT skills, including innovative use of interactive whiteboards.
- Create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students.
- Effective communication with parents, carers, and external agencies when necessary.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Lead and manage own work effectively.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Motivate students and raise aspirations through various strategies.
Salary and Benefits:
The estimated salary range for this role is £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a range of benefits including a Harris Allowance, Performance and Loyalty Bonus, Pension Scheme, Wellbeing Cash Plan, and more.
