Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Bid Writer to join our team at GirlingJones, a leading construction company based in Plymouth.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in bid writing and business development, with experience working in a construction company. Alternatively, they may have experience working in estimating or pre-construction departments as an administrator looking to step up to bid writing and business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective bid strategies to increase success rates.
  • Manage and update the company's 'Bid Library' with key information, responses, and content for future reference.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, meetings, and events to promote our services and enhance our reputation.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSiP) portals, including CHAS, SafeContractor, Constructionline, Salus, and SSG Assessed.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop best practices, workflows, and standard operating procedures to optimize project management tool participation.
  • Create engaging content for various communication channels, including the website, social media, and internal platforms.
  • Generate regular reports and data analyses to track performance, monitor bid success rates, and business growth metrics.
  • Undertake all training, including mandatory and best practice training, as required by the business.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working in a construction company, preferably in a bid writing or business development capacity.
  • Alternatively, experience working in estimating or pre-construction departments as an administrator looking to step up to bid writing and business development.
  • Strong understanding of the construction industry and its requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum.
