Job Title: Capital Accountant

UK Research and Innovation is seeking a highly skilled Capital Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Control pillar, you will be responsible for the management of fixed assets and capital projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile Oracle General Ledger and Fixed Asset modules on a project-by-project basis
  • Ensure fixed asset capitalization and disposals comply with UKRI policies and International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Provide educational workshops and materials on fixed assets and capital project set-ups to capital project managers and departmental staff
  • Maintain the Capital Projects Ledger, advising on project structures and cleansing project data
  • Manage rolling cycles of fixed asset verification, validation, and impairment review
  • Collaborate with the shared service centre UK SBS on fixed asset transaction processing
  • Undertake monthly quality reviews of fixed asset reconciliations
Person Specification:
  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant with relevant experience
  • Extensive experience in financial accounting environments
  • Good working knowledge of International Reporting Standards relating to non-current assets
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in creating and managing fixed assets and large capital projects
  • Ability to present and explain financial information to non-financial staff
