Product Engineer Job Description

Brook Street Recruitment is working with a client in Northern Ireland to find a Product Engineer to join their team on a full-time and permanent basis.

The Product Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining product specifications that accurately reflect customer requirements and company manufacturing capabilities. This will involve designing and purchasing job-specific tooling for use in the manufacture of our product portfolio, as well as maintaining complete and accurate records of product specification history.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as a safety leader and prioritize safety in all responsibilities.
  2. Adhere to corporate and site Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  3. Review new product requests from customers and use knowledge of machine capabilities to determine the most efficient route to manufacture.
  4. Review and interpret customer-supplied specifications for company products, comparing customer requirements to company manufacturing capabilities and developing product specifications as needed.
  5. Translate customer-supplied information into customer-facing specification format using AutoCAD and communicate directly with the customer for approval.
  6. Maintain customer-facing specifications, customer-supplied specifications, and supporting documentation in organized and user-friendly customer master files.
  7. Generate clear and accurate internal product specifications in SAP based on approved customer-facing specifications and/or customer-supplied specifications for use by manufacturing personnel.
  8. Provide SAP data specialists with consistently accurate product information required to generate SAP master data, Bills of Materials, and routings for use in costing, order entry, planning, and manufacture of new and existing products.
  9. Design, order, and issue job-specific tooling for use in accordance with associated manufacturing specifications.
  10. Control design advancement in compliance with the Company's Quality Management System.
  11. Control internal and external change requests by Customer Service, Sales, Customers, Manufacturing, Technical, QA, and sub-contractors in accordance with customer no-change agreements and/or other customer requirements.
  12. Work closely on new business development projects, where applicable, in line with company sales plans.
  13. Use analytical skills to ensure prompt resolution of any Product Engineering-related Manufacturing issues.
  14. Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and completeness.
  15. Apply sound engineering practice for design improvement and issue resolution.
  16. Participate in customer audits (where necessary).
  17. Participate in continuous improvement and special projects as required.
Requirements:
  1. Degree or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or relevant discipline.
  2. Auto-CAD experience.
  3. Strong background/knowledge of Microsoft computer software.
  4. A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant design/development experience.
  5. Detailed knowledge of SAP.

Working hours are 38 per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00-17:00 and Friday 08:00-12:00.
