We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Scientist to join our R&D group in Slough, UK, working on lab-scale bioreactor process development and automation.
Role Purpose:The purpose of this role is to maintain Lonza Pharma & Biotech as a leading contract manufacturer through the development and optimization of fed-batch and perfusion process technologies at lab scale, leveraging automation engineering solutions.
- Set up, operate, and maintain lab-scale bioreactors for mammalian cell culture.
- Generate experimental results and review scientific documentation.
- Ensure studies are scientifically sound and compliant with current regulatory guidance.
- Support lab procedures and safety assessments.
- Collaborate with IT/OT/Network Infrastructure and Security Teams to ensure a reliable and secure automated manufacturing environment.
- Support updates to and maintenance of data historian systems.
- Complete required Lonza training.
- EngD/PhD/MSc/MEng in Bioprocessing, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of experience in lab-scale bioreactor control and upstream process development for mammalian cells.
- Familiarity with PAT tools and analytical techniques (Tridex, Octet) is a plus.
- Demonstrated innovative skills and experience leading complex technology projects.
