Lead Scientist (Grade 09)

At Lonza, we're committed to delivering innovative solutions in life sciences. As a Lead Scientist, you'll play a key role in driving technical excellence and advancing our purification processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of cutting-edge primary recovery strategies that meet industry demands.
  • Evaluate novel primary recovery technologies at laboratory and pilot scales to drive innovation.
  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable primary recovery processes and novel affinity purification methods to enhance our product offerings.
  • Assess ligands and tag technologies for novel affinity capture steps to improve our separation capabilities.
  • Investigate ligand-protein interactions through in-silico and biophysical methods to inform our process development.
  • Develop and refine process conditions for bespoke affinity capture methods to ensure optimal results.
  • Independently design studies, collect, evaluate, and interpret complex data sets to achieve project objectives.
  • Author high-quality technical reports and publications with scientifically supported conclusions and recommendations.

Key Requirements:

  • Master's degree in biotechnology, chemistry, or chemical engineering.
  • Experience in executing primary separation and protein purification for biotherapeutics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot downstream equipment and purification protocols.
  • Effective use of digital tools for data analysis and productivity enhancement.
  • Demonstrable experience in working in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience in writing scientific technical reports and publications.
  • Fluent English language skills.
