Capital Modelling Actuary Role

The Capital Modelling Actuary is a key member of our team at The Emerald Group, responsible for supporting the Head of Capital Modelling in duties such as model parameterisation, model development, output design, regulatory submissions, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare regulatory submissions for Lloyd's, BMA, PRA, rating agencies, and other relevant bodies.
  • Produce key internal capital modelling reports/memos and model outputs as required.
  • Maintain relevant logs and documents, including data directories, process documentation, expert judgement/assumption logs, model procedures, and calculation kernel version control logs.
  • Ensure appropriate audit trails are available, including sign-off records, system folder structures, internal model expert group minutes, parameterisation justifications, and notes within files.
Requirements:
  • A minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent) in a subject with a high degree of Mathematics, such as Mathematics, Physics, Economics with Mathematics, or Actuarial Science.
  • Qualified Actuary with previous experience in Capital Modelling.
  • Tyche experience is desirable, and any other modelling software experience is an asset.
  • Display a broad range of technical understanding in Capital Modelling and apply detailed technical knowledge for problem-solving.
  • Ability to effectively coach and mentor individuals to support their development.
