Seafreight Operator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Seafreight Operator to join our team at Red Recruit. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire forwarding process, from booking with carriers to invoice reconciliation, revenue and costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and book cargo with shipping lines.
  • Manage documentation flow, including bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, and certificates of origin and licenses.
  • Complete customs clearances.
  • Coordinate the collection/delivery process and manage this until the final destination.
  • Work in a small team, covering all aspects of the forwarding process.
  • Book all movement of modes of freight.
  • Deal with customer inquiries and requests for quotations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in start-to-finish Import Seafreight Freight Forwarding operations.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations, commodity codes, and all related customs paperwork.
  • Import and Export Customs entries using CDS.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Exceptional communication skills.

We are keen to speak to people who have experience in a customer-facing operations role, especially those with knowledge of import and export operations or experience working as a Customs Operator / Customs Clerk / Customs Coordinator, or have good working knowledge of CDS.
