Seafreight Operator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Seafreight Operator to join our team at Red Recruit, a leading recruitment agency specializing in freight and shipping. As a Seafreight Operator, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire forwarding process, from booking with carriers to invoice reconciliation, revenue, and costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate and book cargo with shipping lines.
  • Manage documentation flow, including bills of lading, packing lists, commercial invoices, and certificates of origin and licenses.
  • Complete customs clearances.
  • Coordinate the collection/delivery process and manage it until the final destination.
  • Work in a small team, covering all aspects of the forwarding process.
  • Book all movement of modes of freight.
  • Deal with customer inquiries and requests for quotations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in start-to-finish Import Seafreight Freight Forwarding operations.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations, commodity codes, and all related customs paperwork.
  • Import and Export Customs entries using CDS.
  • Commercially minded.
  • Exceptional communication skills.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Seafreight Operator who can work effectively in a customer-facing role, particularly those with knowledge of import and export operations or experience working as a Customs Operator/Customs Clerk/Customs Coordinator, or have good working knowledge of CDS. In return, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary, up to £32,000, in line with skills and experience.
