Position Overview

As a dedicated professional within the Dundee City Council, you will be engaged in providing essential support at various residential facilities for the elderly. This role entails working 30, 35, or 37 hours weekly, including shifts during the day, night, and weekends on a rotating schedule.

Your responsibilities will involve collaborating with a team of Social Care Officers to ensure that residents receive personalized assistance tailored to their individual requirements.

The service aims to enhance the quality of life for those residing in our care homes by facilitating daily living activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend to the personal needs of residents, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Assist with essential tasks such as personal hygiene, meal support, and other identified needs.
  • Promote a nurturing and homely environment that encourages independence while providing necessary support.
  • Assume key worker responsibilities, including the completion of personal care plans and organizing reviews.
  • Participate in social activities designed for residents and administer medication as required (training will be provided).
  • Engage in shift work, including weekends and occasional night duties, while performing cleaning and domestic tasks as needed.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess experience in working with older adults, individuals with dementia, or those with physical disabilities. Strong personal care skills, effective communication abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team are essential.

Organizational skills, reliability, and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations are crucial for success in this role. You should also demonstrate assertiveness and the foresight to anticipate needs and take appropriate action.

This position is classified as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Adults, necessitating adherence to the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. Successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to employment confirmation.
