ERTMS Safety Critical Training Manager

At Colas Rail UK, we are seeking an experienced ERTMS Safety Critical Training Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Rail Services division, you will be responsible for managing ERTMS safety critical training and competency within our organization. Your primary goal will be to ensure effective implementation of railway group standards and industry codes of practice around the implementation of ERTMS, including strategies and policies significant to the safe operation of all freight. This role also involves assisting in maintaining the integrity of Colas Rail's ROG compliance. You will implement and manage training and competency assessment regimes, including risk management and safety performance monitoring. Your success will be measured by your ability to support the implementation of the Colas Rail Limited Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) strategy, associated actions, and resulting initiatives, to deliver continuous improvement in all areas. You will also be responsible for ensuring work is carried out with a continuous view to profitability and efficiency, guaranteeing that shareholders see value for money and a profitable business. Additionally, you will take responsibility for delivering on time and on budget a high-quality product or service, which Colas Rail can take pride in. You will demonstrate respect for colleagues, our clients, and the environment in all areas of work. Your key areas of responsibility and accountability will include ensuring effective systems are in place to manage freight and artisan's competencies, co-ordinating training and re-certification of artisans and freight drivers, maintaining the staff competency database, developing training and assessment documentation, assisting with technical, safety, and incident investigations as required, analysing, forecasting, planning, and monitoring the competency management system, attending meetings as business requirements, leading and participating in safety meetings as required, and ensuring compliance with all company standards and procedures. You will also be required to undertake other reasonable duties as required from time to time. The ideal candidate will be a widely experienced railway person with an excellent knowledge of freight operation, comprehensive knowledge in rail industry standards relating to ERTMS, including operational safety, and Health & Safety legislation, hold Trainer, Assessor Qualifications, be willing to undertake further training as the post dictates, have excellent communication skills and organisational ability, have excellent IT skills, experience in administration organisation, and hold a UK driving licence.
