Job Description

Job Summary:

The Technical Lead will provide technical leadership to the Piping Engineering team, ensuring delivery of high-quality designs and solutions that meet the needs of the project. This role will be responsible for resolving technical issues, facilitating issue resolution, and ensuring that all parties deliver their roles to plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership to the Piping Engineering team, ensuring delivery of high-quality designs and solutions.
  • Resolve technical issues and facilitate issue resolution with stakeholders.
  • Ensure that all parties deliver their roles to plan, including Responsible Designers, Execution Designers, Fabricators/Manufacturers, Nuclear Services, and JDO.
  • Manage and coordinate all engineering issues, including Early Warnings, Technical Queries, and General Communications.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in resolving technical topics and queries.

Key Interfaces:

  • Engineering Manager for the discipline.
  • Responsible Designer (RD) Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) and Discipline Lead.
  • Nuclear Services.
  • Execution Designer - Bilfinger.
  • Fabricators/Manufacturers - Bilfinger and sub-suppliers.
  • JDO.
  • Quality.
  • Other HPC Engineering Entities (Plant Integration & other Programs).

Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering Knowledge in general, experience of the design, manufacture and installation of small bore and large bore piping, and instrumentation cabinets, ideally in a nuclear application.
  • Track record of delivering technical expertise in projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
  • Demonstrable awareness of integrated management system and the different policies, procedures, standards and documents applicable to technical and contractual management.
  • Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders and facilitating issues resolution.
  • Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. Excellent communication and organisational skills, able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction or other related field.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations.

Location:

The Technical Lead position base location is the EDF Site Delivery Centre (SDC) in Bridgwater.
