About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support the learning of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in one of our inspirational SEN Schools in Ashington. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality support to pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, and PMLD, in a classroom setting
  • Develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of pupils, working closely with Class Teachers and colleagues
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff, demonstrating a resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Support pupils with personal care needs, as required
Requirements
  • A Supporting Teaching and Learning or Childcare-based Qualification (desired)
  • Experience of working with children in schools in the UK
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Hold a Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references that cover the last two years
