We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our Motor Casualty team and drive the development of our Casualty portfolio. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters and supporting the Head of Trading in the execution of our underwriting strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the annual business plan for the portfolio, ensuring delivery of key objectives.
- Lead the team in understanding the business plan and its context, making informed decisions to achieve business goals.
- Apply the Reinsurance Strategy to safeguard the portfolio and minimize risk.
- Promote the department, division, and company, maximizing brand leverage and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to the development of the team's business plan, driving productivity and performance.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, meeting obligations and minimizing risk.
- Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and good practice, maximizing efficiency and minimizing risk.
- Contribute to the recording and measurement of insurance risks, ensuring accurate data and informed decision-making.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with stakeholders, including customers, brokers, business partners, and colleagues, to drive business objectives.
- Demonstrate understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycles, driving business performance and growth.
- Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge, identifying and implementing appropriate development activities.
- Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and personal authority, meeting business objectives and delivering results.
About You:
- Demonstrable experience in the motor casualty industry, with a proven track record of success.
- Previous experience in sales and account management, with a strong understanding of stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to prioritize, achieve targets, and meet deadlines, with a focus on results-driven performance.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiating, and communication skills, with a ability to engage and lead a team.
