About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled System Safety Engineer to join our team in London. This is a permanent position with a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum.

As a System Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for leading system safety hazard identification and risk assessments, identifying safety measures and evidence of implementation, and associated management plans and reports.

You will have the opportunity to work on major railway projects, utilizing your knowledge of CSM-RA and National Technical Specifications Notices (NTSNs) to ensure compliance with HS2 statutory obligations.

This role requires collaboration with project delivery teams, management, clients, sub-contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the System Safety Manager in maintaining the System Safety Management Plan.
  • Liaise with construction leads and subcontracts to ensure appropriate System Safety activities are planned and undertaken across multiple assets.
  • Production and submission of asset-specific system safety status reports to support progressive assurance of the construction phase.
  • Provide advice on system safety practices and procedures to construction project teams.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings and awareness training to engender the appropriate system safety competence within the project team.
  • Report on system safety activities progress and issues across the project area to the System Safety Manager.

Requirements:

  • Exposure to or an interest in Systems Engineering and Technical Assurance.
  • Experience of applying system safety assurance processes in major railway projects and knowledge of CSM.
  • Capable of working collaboratively and effectively with project delivery teams, management, and stakeholders.
  • High standard of verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Awareness of the various disciplines involved in delivering major railway projects.
  • Good information management and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools, particularly IBM Rational DOORS.
