Job Title: Programme Controls Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Programme Controls Specialist to join our client's Programme, Project and Portfolio Management team in London. As a Programme Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting clients with the development and implementation of robust processes, procedures, and tools to facilitate successful execution of projects, programmes, and portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drive transparency and visibility of progress and performance across all stages of the project and programme lifecycle.
  2. Analyse, understand, and interpret project/programme performance data to constructively challenge and/or identify trends and areas for further investigation.
  3. Present and communicate project/programme performance data to non-technical stakeholders to support decision-making at all levels.
  4. Oversee programme controls and reporting systems – lead set up and ongoing development of internal and external progress reporting processes and tools, including Power BI where required.
  5. Develop, implement, and manage control processes and tools e.g. change control, reporting, risk, schedule.
  6. Support continuous improvement through implementing improvements to internal processes related to portfolio, programme, and project management.
  7. Support project and/or programme governance and assurance processes.

Requirements:

  1. Preferably educated to degree or equivalent level in a relevant field.
  2. Experience in working in controls in complex programme/projects.
  3. Understanding of public sector programme and project delivery environments.
  4. Demonstrable experience of using programme reporting systems and tools including Power BI.
  5. Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  6. Strong attention to detail and accuracy alongside excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  7. Achieved or working towards a recognised Programme Management qualification (e.g. Risk management, IRM, MoR, Price2) or Project Management qualification (e.g. APM PMQ).
