Job Title: Locum Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to join our team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is a full-time (10PA) locum consultant post based on both the Chelsea and Sutton sites of The Royal Marsden. The appointee will be appropriately experienced in cancer reconstruction surgery and be able to manage a high clinical workload. Although the appointee will be expected to contribute to the large clinical workload supporting all clinical units, he/she will primarily provide reconstructive support across both sites of the hospital.

This is a fixed-term appointment for 12 months.

Main Responsibilities
  • The post holder will be expected to carry out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contribute to postgraduate and continuing medical education activities locally, nationally and internationally.
  • The post holder will undertake responsibilities for the administration of local training and research meetings.
  • The post holder will join the joint plastic surgery clinic which currently takes place on Wednesday in Chelsea.
Person Specification
  • Eligible for full GMC Registration
  • FRCS or equivalent
  • CSST from Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent
  • Higher Degree (PhD/MD)
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in relation to surgical oncology
  • Extensive experience in microvascular surgery, complex case management and second cancer surgery
  • Extensive experience in minor surgery
  • Training in multi-disciplinary aspects of oncology
  • Evidence of commitment to teaching
  • Experience of service improvement
  • International fellowship / microsurgical experience at other centres of excellence
  • Demonstrable evidence of research undertaken in plastic surgery / microvascular surgery
  • Management Experience
  • Experience in translational medicine
