Job Title: Higher Scientific Officer, Target and E3 Ligase Discovery, Biology

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Higher Scientific Officer to join our Centre for Protein Degradation, a part of the Institute of Cancer Research's Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery. The successful candidate will be working in a multidisciplinary team to deliver biology aspects of our projects, focusing on the discovery and validation of novel molecular glue and PROTAC targets, as well as E3 ligases for challenging oncology indications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions for cancer drug discovery, working closely with medicinal chemists, biophysicists, computational scientists, and oncology specialists.
  • Design and execute in vitro genetic manipulation techniques for target validation and interrogation of cell signalling pathways.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and characterise novel degradable drug targets and E3 ligases, and develop innovative screening platforms.
  • Contribute to the development of novel drug modalities that re-wire tumour cells' signalling by targeted degradation of key oncogenic drivers.
Requirements:
  • PhD in biology or biochemistry with a solid background in cancer cell biology and hands-on experience with in vitro genetic manipulation techniques.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of organisation and time management.
  • Experience in targeted protein degradation, biochemical, and pharmacology assays is an advantage.

The Centre for Protein Degradation is a leading research group specialising in the development of novel drug modalities that re-wire tumour cells' signalling by targeted degradation of key oncogenic drivers. Our team works closely with medicinal chemists, biophysicists, computational scientists, and oncology specialists to expand the repertoire of novel degradable drug targets and E3 ligases, and to identify and characterise their mechanisms of action.
