Director of Communications & Public Information

The Cambridge Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Communications & Public Information to join our team. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications plans to promote the district's mission, values, and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute internal and external communications strategies to engage stakeholders, build relationships, and promote the district's brand.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, school administrators, and staff to ensure consistent and effective communication across the district.
  • Develop and maintain the district's website, social media platforms, and other communication channels to ensure timely and accurate information is shared with the public.
  • Design and implement emergency communication plans to ensure timely and effective communication during crisis situations.
  • Work with the family engagement team to develop and implement strategies to engage the community and promote the district's initiatives.
  • Supervise the Community Relations Clerk and vendors engaged in communications.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in a communications role in a school district, state education agency, or other educational context.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex policies and practices to varied audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with web content development, content management systems, and social media content campaigns.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands, work in a high-pressure environment, and manage complex projects.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
