Senior Archivist

The Senior Archivist is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Special Collections service, which holds extensive collections of manuscripts, rare books, and audiovisual material. They are a key part of increasing access (digital and physical) and managing a range of projects, including line management.
The role involves all aspects of collections management, including appraisal, accessioning, cataloguing, discoverability, and accessibility of physical and digital archives. This includes working with users to provide professional expertise and raise the profile and use of Special Collections for a wide range of audiences.
The Senior Archivist will build strong working relationships and networks, both internally and externally across the archival, cultural, and HE sectors. They will also ensure that all procedures and services align with sector/accreditation standards, legislation, and best practice.
Key responsibilities include managing projects and budgets, line managing members of the team, and helping to develop and fundraise for new projects.
