The Opportunity

Leonardo, a leader in the aerospace and defense industry, is seeking an experienced Master Radar Systems Engineer to join our team in Edinburgh, UK.

This role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of advanced surveillance radar systems for various customers. As a key member of our Surveillance Radar Engineering Team, you will work closely with project stakeholders, engineering functions, and external partners to ensure timely and successful project execution.

The Master Radar Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing project work packages, technical requirements, and product verification tasks. Your expertise in electronics, mechanical design, and verification/validation processes will be essential in delivering high-quality products that meet customer needs and expectations.

You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to create effective plans, develop customer-specific solutions, and ensure resource allocation. Additionally, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to establish good communication lines and maintain a positive working relationship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project work packages, including elements such as schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain technical requirements, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and company standards.
  • Lead the verification/validation process, collaborating with engineers to complete product verification tasks according to the plan.
  • Collaborate with the IPT to create effective, efficient, and realistic plans, developing customer-specific product solutions and communicating these to the IPT to ensure forward load is correct and resources are available.

Requirements:

  • Degree/HND/HNC qualification or relevant equivalent experience in a STEM-related subject.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to build effective working relationships in diverse environments both internally and externally.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, offering high-quality output and presentation ability.
  • Good practical knowledge of an engineering lifecycle, with the ability to track and manage diverse activities and dependencies.
  • Familiarity with areas such as Electronics (Software/Firmware/hardware), Mechanical Design/Integration; Verification, Validation or Certification activities; Work Package Management and Project Planning tools.
