The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our experienced team, supporting you to develop and enhance your advisory and insolvency skills and expertise. You will work closely with some of the most experienced practitioners in the field, advising boards, management teams, lenders, and shareholders of companies facing financial stress or underperformance.

Our Midlands team has a strong track record of leading high-profile insolvencies and complex advisory assignments, working with a diverse range of companies from SMEs to PLCs.

As an Associate Director in the team, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of engagements across all sectors, with significant responsibility for leading workstreams, managing junior staff, and supporting Directors and Senior Managing Directors in client-facing delivery.

The Financial Advisory Team at Teneo

Key Responsibilities

  • Client service: preparation of engagement letters, ensuring compliance, managing parts of the engagement, supporting Senior Managing Directors/Directors in managing external stakeholders, and reviewing and stress-testing integrated business plans.
  • Knowledge acquisition: building client relationships, sector knowledge, and leadership skills, as well as continuing to develop technical expertise and broader business advisory and people management skills.
  • People and leadership: supporting practice and talent development, providing on-job coaching and development to staff, developing junior staff outside of jobs, and managing diverse teams within an inclusive team culture.
  • Business development: owning elements of business development, actively supporting business development activities, building and expanding your own contact network, and participating in existing business development programmes and key client accounts.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent), with experience in restructuring, financial statements, and related data analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills, including business analytics, business planning, short-term cash flows, and financing options.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and develop people.
  • Fluent oral and written English is a pre-requisite.
