Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Designated Doctor for Safeguarding Children to join our team at NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to take a strategic lead in safeguarding children across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin area.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical expertise and strategic leadership in safeguarding children across the health service.
  • Work closely with the ICB Safeguarding Team, local authorities, police, and other stakeholders to ensure effective multi-agency collaboration.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding practice.
  • Provide training and education to healthcare staff on safeguarding children.
  • Contribute to the development of quality assurance systems across the health economy.

Requirements
  • Hold consultant status or senior post with equivalent professional training and experience within paediatric services.
  • Have substantial clinical experience in the field of safeguarding/child protection and substantial experience of the legislation relating to children and young people.
  • Be clinically active in the field of safeguarding/child protection and have experience of teaching and training.
Person Specification
  • Evidence of GMC registration.
  • Active registration within paediatric field.
  • Paediatric experience.
  • Safeguarding children experience.
