About the Role

Job Summary

The New Trains Project Engineer will be responsible for managing all technical activities related to the introduction of the Class 810 Fleet to EMR. This includes ensuring that the supplier delivers trains that meet the Train Technical Specification and other compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering interfaces on the project and ensure that all relevant parties and stakeholders are informed of progress.
  • Work closely with the manufacturer and owner to coordinate the EMR team, EMR stakeholders, and Rock Rail inputs to the Design Review and Validation process.
  • Maintain a compliance register to demonstrate that the design and subsequent operating processes are compliant with the necessary Standards, including Rail Industry Standards and Key Train Requirements.
  • Support the overall plan for acceptance of the fleet, including any engineering input into quality requirements, usability reviews, and test witnessing.
  • Work with the EMR IT team to ensure systems integration requirements are ready for the testing and service introduction of the new trains.
Requirements
  • Experience of Design Review and Engineering Management processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the European and Railway Group Standards and other railway-specific engineering standards.
  • Ability to manage own time to deliver on agreed objectives under a tight project support environment.
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint competence is essential.

Working Arrangements

EMR has a hybrid working policy, which is applicable for this role. This means the role may be based at home 2-3 days per week and in the office 2-3 days per week. Should you wish to work full-time in the office, this is also an option.
