Fleet Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Project Engineer to join our team at East Midlands Railway. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of engineering projects across our fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure that all technical changes being undertaken by third parties or internal resource on assigned projects are technically safe and compliant to industry standards.
- Ensure that the technical design process with internal and external parties is conducted appropriately, in-line with industry best practice and carried out efficiently.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation and evidence is provided by the supplier such that the engineering change documentation can be completed, and sufficient records retained to ensure compliance with industry and EMR standards.
- Ensure that the technical aspects of projects are understood within the Fleet function to ensure that compatibility and configuration issues between modified and unmodified units are fully understood.
- Monitor supplier technical performance and non-compliance identification and rectification during unit throughput.
- Identify opportunities to provide engineering solutions in relevant projects during project scoping and ensure that any engineering risks to service relevant to the changes related to a project are mitigated to protect customer experience.
- Provide specialist engineering resource to the project by being able to confidently discuss engineering issues, options and solutions to both engineers and non-engineers.
- Work closely with the Branding and customer experience teams to ensure that the enhancements and changes made are in line with EMR's brand and fit for purpose for both staff and customers.
- Qualified Incorporated Engineer (or working towards becoming an Incorporated Engineer).
- Experience of the European and Railway Group Standards and other railway specific engineering standards.
- Demonstrate good knowledge and previous experience of project and Fleet Engineering in the railway environment.
- Excellent Stakeholder Management skills.
- Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to articulate engineering concepts in a concise manner and be understood even by people who are not technically trained.
- High level of numeracy and sound analytical skills.

EMR has a hybrid working policy which is applicable for this role. This means the role may be based at home for up to 2-3 days per week and in the office or other EMR location, to be agreed with your line manager. Should you wish to work full time in the office this is also an option.
