Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team at Northlands Surgery as a Medical Records Coder and Summariser. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a busy and growing doctors surgery in Calne, Wiltshire, where you will be responsible for administrating clinical correspondence and ensuring that patient records are accurate and up-to-date.

Main Responsibilities

As a Medical Records Coder and Summariser, you will be responsible for:

  • Identifying relevant clinical information contained in patient correspondence and coding or free-texting it onto the patient record.
  • Dealing with queries relating to coding and ensuring that patient records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Summarising and reading coded information from patient clinical records into the practice computer system, working strictly in accordance with the practice notes summarising protocol.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A good level of education, including GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths.
  • 12 months+ experience in clinical coding and summarising, with knowledge of anatomical terms and good IT skills.
  • Ability to work accurately and consistently, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage time and workload effectively.
