About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support to pupils with special educational needs in various schools across Barnsley. As a supply SEN Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work in different settings, adapting to the needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual or small group support to pupils with special educational needs
  • Modify teaching materials and resources to meet the needs of each student
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to deliver tailored learning experiences
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and provide emotional support
  • Encourage pupil independence and boost confidence in the classroom

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally in a school setting
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) is preferred but not essential
  • A passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to work in different settings and adapt to varied student needs
  • A valid DBS on the update service (or be willing to obtain one)
