Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Special Education Support Assistant to join our team at Springwell Learning Community. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs, promoting their academic and personal development.

Springwell Learning Community is a leading education provider, comprising of Springwell Special Academy and Springwell Alternative Academy. Our schools work closely with local primary and secondary institutions to offer alternative education programs that cater to diverse student needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS: Provide tailored support to students with complex needs, ensuring they have access to learning opportunities and resources.
  • WORKING WITH TEACHING STAFF: Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans, enhancing student outcomes and progress.
  • HELPING TO CREATE A POSITIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: Foster a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging students to engage actively in the learning process.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Hold relevant qualifications in a field such as special education or a related discipline.
  • EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: Possess extensive experience in providing support services to students with varying levels of need.
  • SKILLS AND QUALITIES: Demonstrate strong communication skills, empathy, and patience when working with students, staff, and parents.

Location and Working Hours:

This role is based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, and requires the ability to work 33 hours per week during term time only, including 5 inset days.
